Collections of Ghent unfolds - webinar
Tuesday 20 June - 13:30 - 15:30, English - Join us on this livestream.
We invite you and your network to this 2 hour English webinar on "Collections of Ghent”, the EU-funded innovation project at the intersection of heritage, social cohesion and technology.
Within Collections of Ghent, the city and its museums and archives have been collaborating for the past 3 years with partners from the corporate, cultural, and academic world to digitize an invaluable collection of more-or-less 75.000 objects, stories and documents. This collected heritage converges in an online platform and the CoGent box, an immersive, high tech and mobile experience room that went on tour in the neighbourhoods of Ghent. Visitors could participate by adding personal stories and assets about the cultural heritage displayed in the CoGent box and on the platform.
We explored how digitised cultural heritage could be used as a conversation starter within neighbourhoods, and didn't focus on current museum goers, but mainly on unserved audiences to tell their stories.
To stimulate re-use, we also started a co-creation fund, as mini grants to incentivize citizens and companies to build anything they wanted with the heritage, from podcasts to theatre pieces.
And we didn’t settle for just a fund. We established a cultural data lab, a place for experimentation, hackatons and workshops to show what is possible with these digitised assets.
Curious to know more about the process and the results of this project or want to ask questions to the key stakeholders? Join us on the 20th of June.
